Anya, take your hat, lose the purse.
Roger, laugh louder in the first union scene.
Lannon, great job with the accent – look at toilet
Joe, gotta have an accent.
Eyetie is pronounced IIIII TIIIII. In Far and away
Bridget on Stolle – Thugs need to react more

“I know that if I can't move people, then I have no business being an actor.”-- Alan Arkin In the comments, write what this means to you.
Violet, do not hesitate with your lines. Step on them.
Julie and Alina, recognize others and you may go to them before assuming your position on the platform. Can either of you come in URS and cross CSR
All actresses, including Clara, fade in the cheeks.
Society girls, Lenore, bring in the cape with the idea that you are donating it. Then you do not have to take your coat off.
MURMUR before the hearing, so it sounds as though the judge has been talking.
Roth, use the cane more – p oint it at the girls.
Chavez, watch the word “either.”
Judge, deeper voice
ESQUIRE, then look proud of yourself.
Judge, keep your feet still.

I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.Oscar Wilde Interpret this in the blog comment.
Roth, given me and Rosie….. hit your chest with the doll.
DISTRESS Shawls
Roth – Remember your power and gain momentum when saying that the girls are trying to take it away. Then almost crumple when you say Rosie may come back again.
DREAM
Joe, walk deliberately to your place with eyes locked on Anya. Roth, your eyes are locked on Anya.
FIRE IS HOT.
TOMB
It is hard getting up. The cold is in your bones. You haven’t had any movement. You are exhausted and starving. YOU ARE WEAK. Move that way.
Bridget to the audience after Clara’s death.
Girls, remember you have been in the tombs and cannot move. Help each other. THIS IS IMPORTANT.
Joe, take all tags out of your jacket.

  2. i think it means if you cant become your character enough to get to the audience you shouldnt be an actor

  3. i think the first one means.... ok..the whole reason people act is to perform. thats what we do. if you can't move the audience, if you cant make them feel and experience what you are feeling and experiencing, then you have NO business being an actor. Your whole purpose is destroyed.

#2 - the theatre, to act, is the quickest most direct way to communicate to another, the audience, what it is to be human. any character that is portrayed, there is someone in the world like that person. its a way of expressing and connecting to one another.

lets get better this week and KICK BUTT on Friday!!!

    love you all.

  4. "I know that if I can't move people, then I have no business being an actor.”--Alan Arkin

Acting is all about really feeling the emotions that your character would which results in the audience feeling what you feel.

“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.” Oscar Wilde

Acting is about being a human being and doing what human beings really do.

  5. “I know that if I can't move people, then I have no business being an actor.”-- Alan Arkin

-Acting is about moveing people to feel what your character feels... if you can't do that then its pointless to act.

“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.”Oscar Wilde

-Theatre is a way (of art) that connects to people in a way that everyone can relate with...

  6. i think that for me acting is where i can let everything out and be very true and i can express openly to the audience about how this person lives and feels and it is very raw sometimes with so much real feeling the audience sometimes doesnt realize how connected we are to the characters.
Also, if the audience cant feel what you are feeling, then they are not enjoying the play and there is something missing and you might as well get off the stage becuase you're not doing what you came there to do

  7. “I know that if I can't move people, then I have no business being an actor.”-- Alan Arkin

I think it means that if you can't make people feel you or get them in to the place then why be an actor.

“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.”Oscar Wilde

I think it means that actors can show how the life or story of the play other people, and tell the story to every age and every person in this world.

And y'll i know we are going to do great and if you beleive that you will you won't have superstition. A brake a leg y'll. We will do great.

  10. The first one means that acting is about the audience. If if were not for the audience and the audience's reactions there would be no profession in acting.

The second one means that theatre should be no different than living an ordinary life. Acting is about mimicking real people and real life situations.

Nice pictures on the side by the way, haha

  11. 1st. I think it means that if you can't make people FEEL something when they watch you act, then you aren't an actor.

2nd. I think this means that when you become someone else you share with other people the life that imaginary person leads.. you show them what it's like for someone else

  12. 1st quote: I think it means that if you can't put yourself into your character then why act?

2nd quote: I think this one means that in theater your a complete different person.

Nice pics. I like Kara and Alli's the best! :)

  13. 1st one: If you can't fully submerge youself into your character, then don't do it at all.

2nd one: You change from the person you are to your character when you enter the theatre.

  14. Everbody, think in your accents. It's kind of like when you think in Spanish instead of English, you learn it faster. You know what I mean?

  15. Everyone go throught hundreds emotions and feeling each minute of life. But only actor can go throught someone`s else and only really talented one can make the audience not only observe but feel the play

I LOVE THEATER! it is the very best way to put audience in differene situation, at different time period, make them feel something they never expirienced in their life before, make them think not about macoroni and cheas( it is kinda random, just something a think about right now=)) but something more global or just make them laught. Doesnt that make u feel really powerfull?=)

i am sorry I wasnt at one act throught all the rehearsal 2day, MISSED U ALL=)

Johhny, Molly and Jaxson really good job

    Love u all . see u 2morrow

  16. Ok, so I'm really extremely mad that I fell asleep last night because I WOULD have posted right after Kara but NO... I had to get tired and not finish my little speel at the end of this so now my ideas on what the quotes mean don't seem very original because all of you STOLE MY THOUGHTS! Losers... =/ (HAHA JK! I love you guys... But seriously... I'm mad... At myself.)

“I know that if I can't move people, then I have no business being an actor.”-- Alan Arkin

-Acting is a job, and-just like any other job-there are certain objectives that need to be accomplished. In theatre, the objective is ALWAYS to make your audience see and feel the lives of the people portrayed on stage. Or, as Alan Arkin said, to "move people", or make them see something your way for a little while, even if for only 39 minutes. If you cannot reach this goal, then you have failed at your job. Simple as that.

“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.”-- Oscar Wilde

-First off, I agree. Theatre IS the greatest of all art forms! Nothing against other forms of art, of course. ;) Anywhos... This quote, to me, says that theatre is the simplest way for one person to cross the void between one person and another, whether they are very similar or polar opposites. I mean this not only from actor to audience, but also for the actor alone to discover. It's just like us with TSTS. We aren't exactly like our characters, but in theatre, we are given the chance to BECOME them and really explore someone elses life, thoughts, dreams, etc. Then we can take that and show it to the world. You can't do that with other forms of art.
    ----------------------------------------------

Alright everyone. This is it. We are just a few days from District competition. We got past zone but let's face it guys... There wasn't much competition there. But District... Lord, this one is going to be hard. Our district is SO GOOD. So, needless to say where I'm going with this but I'm going to anyways... WE HAVE TO GET BETTER WITH EACH PRACTICE FROM NOW UNTIL CONTEST. Period. End of Story. Case Closed. We've got plenty of work to do, tons to clean up, and not a lot of time to do it in. So let's really focus this week.

Everyone that has had to add in a new accent that we haven't practiced before... Do me a favor and join me in talking in your accent all day every day until contest... I promise it helps. We HAVE to have them down or the judge will MURDER us. It is EXTREMELY important. But I know we can do it.

I love you guys so much. Let's do our best this week and especially Friday! =)

  17. 1st quote “I know that if I can't move people, then I have no business being an actor.”-- Alan Arkin

To me it means that if you can't draw the audience into your world you have no reason being an actor

2nd quote when you step on stage you need to be come your character and be your character

  18. i know this is a little late ......

-if you cant make the audience feel what you are feeling, if you cant make them believe. then there is no reason to waste their time

-you can only know what you are, what you look like and how you feel, if someone shows you how to.

  19. The first one means, that theater is the one way that anyone can express themselves in a way that is out of their comfort zone.
