We have rehearsal Thursday night and need everyone on stage in costume?!?, with props by 6:30. Do not be late. On Friday, women need to wear a shirt and skirt. Use a belt if the skirt is too long or too big. Men need long sleeve shirts and slacks. If you are doubled, add something to your costume that makes you look and act differently in each role. We need to make this as authentic as we can. Tulia will allow us to watch theirs. If Lockney has not received their check donation from us, we might use this time to do this if we can get Ms. Smith down here. From the previous critique, Bridget, don't cut your line; however, say it as a challenge to Chavez's character.
· Keri and Lana, we need help with the dance scene. I have been going over it in my mind. We are not moving enough. These are just questions I am raising. Why does JP pin Ruth, then go after Clara? How does Ruth end up with Stolle? Also, everyone is down on the ground. We need levels. Can Stolle pick Ruth up, she bites him on the arm, and he tosses her mid stage. All the guys are pushing women down, face front to the audience. I would like for everyone to think about this, then get to Keri before rehearsal Thursday.
· Also, we need to choreograph the dancers in the back in the dream sequence. I want their movements to be slower so focus is on Joe and Anya.
· For some of the weird transitions, I want to project authentic headlines that not only tell the time of the year, but actual events going on simultaneously with the play. Brent, I would like two projectors hooked up and put inside the columns if possible - shining against the cyclorama. I know that we will not have the cyc at every contest, but we can use it for the first three.
· Greg is working on the crates. We should have some done by Friday - maybe. If not, we will go with what we have.
· Women, remember to get your stage business prepared prior to rehearsal... sewing, cleaning, etc.
These are the only ones who have posted comments. Please urge others to do this, so I can post grades. THANKS

They will have two hours on stage, but we are trying to be flexible about their arrival time.

I love One Act and I have seen the stars! And I'm down with rhrowing Kayla mid stage if she can handle it. Haha.

I'm up for working with the dance scene, I'll do whatever looks best. And yes Zack, I can take a beating. Don't you worry about it.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Couch... Some things you might consider with the projector:
1) If you project things onto the cyc in back, the set will block parts of it from the audience depending on where and how it is placed.
2) As we had to do with Alice, we would have to have a laptop somewhere pretty close to the projector, no more than a few feet because the cords won't reach very far, then there has to be someone there to operate it. I don't know where any of the crew might hide to do this.
(You've probably already thought of all this and figured it out, but I thought I'd throw that out there just incase.)
As far as stage business for the girls, you said we were in charge of bringing our own needles and thread right?
I'll do my best to get Mrs. Elmore to let me go by atleast 6:20 so I can be ready on time.
I like your idea on the dance scene. I am trying to figure out what to do with josh at this time cause so many people are telling him different things. In the ballet i can get something together to were they are all doing something slow but different.
ReplyDeleteI am probably going to rehearsal tomorrow right after tennis, about 5 or 5.30. if people who need to work on dance parts can get there earlier than 6.30, that would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Couch,
ReplyDeleteI have read this. I don't know what you want us to say, so here you go!
Mrs. Couch -
ReplyDeleteI need to talk to you about the projectors. I agree about the audience not being able to see them, as well as the fact that someone is going to have to be running both projectors and laptops probably on stage (I don't think that the cords will be long enough to have the people sit offstage. Also there will probably be a problem since the cyc already has light shinning on it all throughout the play. I'm not sure how the colors and images will come out. Additionally, it is going to take time to set all of this up. I'm not sure if the 7 minutes before the play for setup will give us enough time because most times I will be having to go check the light board.
What do i need to wear on friday and saturday???
ReplyDeleteDo i just wear school clothes or what?

ReplyDeletei hope we all do good tommorow at the clinc. see u at one act.
ReplyDeleteso i am super excited about being apart of one act play. I have some suggestions for the dream scene. i will let everyone know on thursday. any way. i will also bring some things that can be used for the play too. :)
ReplyDeleteim exicited about this year...
ReplyDeleteFactory women-- it would really help me out if for the dance in the tombs, if the yalls could be asleep by the time jaxson leaves the stage... there is not enough time to play a different song right there before the dance and yall tend to get mad when the music starts and yall arent quite ready... just something to think about and maybe try in sunday's practice...
I am so excited about One Act Play! I regret not doing it my freshmen and sophomore year but am glad i am doing it this year!
ReplyDeleteSo, I like all the changes we made to the dances.
ReplyDeleteIt just needs to be perfected now.
I still don't know how I feel about the ballet, sometimes we go through it and it's great, but then other times it looks like the girls are just jumping around. I think it needs to be more choreographed. But not too much time needs to be spent on it.
I agreed with Freida's critique on the picket signs needing to be choreographed at the end, and i've got some ideas I'll show you next time. :)
great job today everyone! :D
Love,
Keri
